Homemade Fat-Burning Kombucha Tonic

Kombucha. What Is It? It is a strong fermented tea drink with bacterial culture to aide in bloating, better digestion, weight loss and even may reduce heart disease. This traditional drink contains antioxidants and probiotics, all which we know to help the gut better its function! The only con I have found that comes alongside these Kombucha drinks, is cane sugar. Almost every drink I’ve picked up in stores add sugar to make it tastier. Well that’s great and all, but doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

And then, Bingo. I came across a “Kombucha” that was naturally sweetened with apple juice AND contained one of my most raved about ingredients, Apple Cider Vinegar. Best thing yet, it tasted great. 

 

Okay so maybe this drink is not your traditional Kombucha, it uses ACV instead of a tea base, but the ingredients are so simple and healthy.. I quickly started perfecting this recipe at home. 

 

 

Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar daily has been proven to aid in weight loss.. Amongst many other benefits. And believe me, I have totally seen improvement with my waistline. So without Further-a-Do… Let’s Get Into It!

 

What You’ll Need:

2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar with The Mother

½ tsp Turmeric Powder

Fresh or Powdered Ginger

½ cup Organic Apple Juice (Unsweetened)

½ cup Carbonated Water

1 Probiotic Pill/Powder( If Available )

How To:

  1. Grate the ginger and add to the apple juice
  2. Stir in the Turmeric. Make sure all 3 ingredients are blended well.
  3. Add Ice ( optional ), then add your Apple Cider Vinegar. Stir gently.
  4. If you are using probiotics, open 1 capsule and sprinkle in drink.
  5. Slowly Pour the carbonated water, keeping as many bubbles as you can.
  6. Add a reusable straw and sip away! Separation is natural so stir gently in-between sips.

TIPS:

  1. USE A STRAW. ACV is acidic and can damage the teeth.
  2. Turmeric stains clothing and hands, in some cases even counter.. So be careful when handling turmeric!
  3. Start slow. If you are new to Apple Cider Vinegar, add less and work your tolerance up. 
  4. Drink right in the mornings for best results.
  5. If you need to instantly get rid of bloating, make this drink without carbonated water and your bloating will be gone within 10 minutes. Great before an event. 

So why go through all this trouble if in-store drinks are available? I’ll be blunt, you’ll save loads of money by buying these ingredients and preparing this drink at home. After doing some quick math, an at-home drink will cost you about $1.2 while the store chargers you anywhere north of $5. On a side note I also appreciate having the say in which ingredients I use and I opt for organic as much as I can.
